A Parable of the Good Neighbor
There was a man who lost his job and was about to lose his house. One day he met a friend of him on the street who asked him.
“Why are you so sad?” The man replied, “I lost my job and now the bank sent a notice that if I don’t pay the monthly installment, I will lose my house.”
“Oh, don’t worry”, said his friend, “God is in control. Let me pray for you and everything will be alright.” And after the lengthy prayer he said, “And remember—Jesus loves you. Now, go in peace.”
Next week the man met another friend of him who asked him, “Why are looking so sad? What happened?”
The man replied, “I lost my job and now the bank sent a second notice that if I don’t pay the monthly installment, I will lose my house.”
“Don’t worry”, said his friend, “God is in control. Here, take these ten bucks and everything will be alright. Go in peace.”
One more week past on and the man met another friend who asked him, “Why are so gloomy?”
“I lost my job, and the bank sent a final notice that if I don’t pay, I will lose my house and I don’t know what to do,” said the man.
“That’s not good,” said his friend. “You know what?” “I know someone who may want to hire you. Let me call him and hopefully everything will be alright at the end”, said the friend.
And in a few days the man received the job and was able to save his house and family.
Time past by and the man met again the friends of him. The first one greeted him saying, “How you are doing, man?” “I found a job and was able to save my house”, replied the man. “Great!” said his friend. “I am glad my prayer helped.”
The second one greeted him saying, “How are you doing? Everything is alright?” “I found a job and was able to save my house”, replied the man. “Great!” said his friend. “I am glad I could help.”
Now, this is the wisdom—who was his good neighbor?
May we merit seeing the coming of our Mashiach speedily in our days!
