Creed

Ani Maamin

I believe

1. I believe with complete faith that the Creator, Yehovah, blessed be His name, is the Creator and Guide of all the created beings, and that He alone has made, does make, and will make all things.

2. I believe with complete faith that the Creator, Yehovah, blessed be His name, is One and Alone, who was, who is, and who will be; there is no oneness in any way like Him, as it is said, “Hear, O Yisrael Yehovah our Elohim, Yehovah is one”.

3. I believe with complete faith that the Creator, Yehovah, blessed be His name, is incorporeal; that He is free from all anthropomorphic properties.

4. I believe with complete faith that the Creator, Yehovah, blessed be His name, is the first and the last and He has no one like Him at all.

5. I believe with complete faith that Yehoshua is Mashiach of the Creator, Yehovah, blessed be His name, the image of the invisible Elohim, that He was born of a virgin birth in the Davidic line; who came to suffer, and die on the execution stake as the ultimate Pesach for the redemption of my sins; who was resurrected in three days and three nights, that those who believe in Him may inherit an eternal life.

6. I believe with complete faith that the Creator, Yehovah, blessed be His name, is the only one to whom it is proper to pray in the character of His Mashiach, Yehoshua, and that it is inappropriate to pray to anyone else.

7. I believe with complete faith that there is one Torah given through Mosheh, our teacher, peace unto him, for all children of the Creator, Yehovah, blessed be His name, whether native or grafted-in.

8. I believe with complete faith that Torah is perfect returning the human soul to the Creator, Yehovah, blessed be His name; it is everlasting and cannot be changed and that the obedience to His Word is the highest expression of faith.

9. I believe with complete faith that the Shabbat is the sign of the Covenant of the Creator, Yehovah, blessed be His name, between Him and all Israel, and that all His Set-apart appointed times are given to us to guard and observe for the love for Him, blessed be He.

10. I believe with complete faith that Yehoshua, Mashiach of the Creator, Yehovah, blessed be His name, came to restore and uphold perfectly Torah, that He is the embodiment of His Word, the living Torah, and that there is no difference between the written Word and living Word of Elohim, blessed be He.

11. I believe with complete faith that all the words of the Prophets are true and the prophecy of Mosheh our teacher, peace unto him, is true; and that he was the father of all prophets, both of those who preceded and of those who followed him.

12. I believe with complete faith that the Creator, Yehovah, blessed be His name, knows all the deeds and thoughts of human beings, as it is said, “It is He who fashions the hearts of them all, He who perceives all their actions.”

13. I believe with complete faith that the Creator, Yehovah, blessed be His name, rewards those who observe His commandments, and punishes those who transgress His commandments; and that the fear of the Almighty, blessed be He, is the beginning of wisdom.

14. I believe with complete faith in the second coming of Yehoshua, Mashiach, when He will come to judge everyone according to all his works; and although He may tarry, nevertheless, I wait every day for Him to come.

15. I believe with complete faith that there will be resurrection of the dead at the time when it will be the will of the Creator, Yehovah, blessed be His name, and exalted be His Kingdom forever and ever. Amein, Amein!

The foresaid principles of faith are based on the Thirteen Principles of Faith formulated by the Rambam in his Commentary on the Mishnah (tractate Sanhedrin 10:1). The present author has added to them his belief that Yehoshua (Yeshua) is the Messiah of Israel.
